About Selway Equine Therapy Center
Our name comes from the Selway River in Idaho. One of the most unspoiled and magnificient rivers in the country. “Sel-Wah” means ‘sounds of water flowing’ in the Nez Perce language.
Selway is owned and operated by Daniel Vernay, a certified veterinary technician. Transplanted to the US in 1981 from the Rhone Valley in south-east France.
Daniel's equine experience is broad and spans across the country from Thoroughbred breeding farms and racetracks in Maryland and Florida to the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness in Montana as a packer and guide. In Colorado, he worked closely with performance horses and as a technician in a mixed practice before moving to Texas in 2002.
Daniel has a degree in Veterinary Technology with a special interest in animal physical therapy from Colorado Mountain College, Glendwood Springs, CO.
He has interned at renowned hospitals across the country such as Hagyard-Davidson-McGee in Kentucky, Littleton Large Animal Clinic in Colorado and Rood and Riddle also in Kentucky working in surgery, ICU, radiology and medicine.
Selway Equine Therapy Center was started in 2003 and, since then, Daniel has remained active in continuing education. He attends many veterinary and physical rehabilitation conferences and seminars as well as participating in the University of Tennessee Certificate Program in Canine and Equine Physical Rehabilitation.
